The Dominican Republic continues to be one of the favorite destinations in the world. The latest edition of the Condé Nast Traveler Awards confirms this, where the country was chosen as the winner in the “Best International Destination” category.

“It may be thought – wrongly – that the Dominican Republic lives only on paradisiacal beaches,” the magazine publisher states in the publication of the award winners.

“And although it is true that the white sand and the insulting blue of its waters seem to take a fixed place in your memory, once there, you discover that the five senses will forever remember other of its many wonders: the mangú for breakfast – or the sancocho , or the beans, or the tostones…–, the good humor and closeness of its inhabitants, the merengue as the soundtrack of everyday life…“, they add.

Finally, they assure that “the Dominican Republic does not steal your heart, it kidnaps it so you never want to return from its dream landscapes and everything and everyone who lives in them.”

The Condé Nast Traveler Awards recognize the travel industry, rewarding the best destinations, hotels and resorts, both nationally and internationally. Among the numerous award categories there was room for “Best City Hotel” to “Best Snow Hotel” and “Best Design Hotel”.

The awards gala, chosen by popular vote, was presented by the Spanish actress Greta Fernández and featured special performances by the Dominican artist Lennis Rodríguez and the Spanish singer-songwriter Nil Moliner, who gave way to the party by performing his three most famous songs.
