If you are traveling (or planning to travel) for the first time to the Dominican Republic you should know that, in addition to your passport, a form with all your travel information is also required by the Dominican Migration. In the past, this form was filled out by hand at the airport before leaving or on the plane (the airline distributed paper forms to each passenger). Since 2021, the entire process has been digitalized and the new form, to be filled out exclusively online, is called E-Ticket.
What is the Electronic Ticket or E-Ticket?
The Dominican Republic’s electronic ticket (e-ticket) was introduced on April 1, 2021. The e-ticket is a digital form that all passengers must complete, regardless of nationality, when entering or leaving the country. The system was implemented to make the process more secure and efficient for travelers.
To enter the Dominican Republic, passengers must present their e-ticket and a QR code to Migration and Customs. The QR code verifies that the form has been completed correctly.
The important thing to know is that the E-Ticket is completely FREE and can be accessed and completed online from the official website of the Dominican Migration Department which is only and exclusively this one here:
http://eticket.migracion.gob.do
It is very important to know this info because lately many fake websites for filling out the E-Ticket have been appearing. These websites apparently imitate the official site both in design and in the data entry process, with the only difference that at the end of the process, to obtain the QR code, they will ask you for money and to enter your card details.
Whoever is behind these pages manages (with advertising or other non-transparent tools) to make them appear at the top of Google search results, with the consequence that when a user searches on Google for the page to fill out the E-Ticket, often he will see the fake site before the official site.
Fake E-ticket websites that have appeared recently include:
eticket.portalmigracion.com/
dominicanrepublic-entryinfo.com/
dominicanrepubliceticket.org/
dominicanrepubliceticket.us/
Authorities have yet to disclose any protection mechanisms beyond advising users to ensure they complete the process on the correct website, so be careful and avoid being scammed even before entering Dominican territory.
