Punta Cana and Samana among the best destinations for spring holidays

Punta Cana and Samana were selected among the “25 best spring break destinations for adults in 2025” (Spring Break), chosen by the specialized media Condé Nast Traveler.

The publication selected these spring break destinations, based on waiting for the months where the peaks of summer and winter travel are exceeded, in months such as March and April in the mid-season, in order to be able to get cheap and less crowded trips.

They also highlight that the destinations have a temperate climate, with important places of interest and attractions. In addition to this, they indicate that, at a certain point in the life of young people, they look for trips that are not only fun, but also offer other “refined” alternatives, such as seeing whales in Samaná.

About Samaná Bay, located in the northeast of the Dominican Republic, the publication reports that it is a little-known destination for vacations, but considers that “Samaná Bay” is one of the hidden gems that the country still has.

They highlight that the crystal-clear waters of the Samaná Peninsula are ideal for snorkeling and diving. In addition, they point out that between the months of January to March it is possible to see humpback whales giving birth to their young and mating in the bay.

They recommend visiting before the end of the season to participate in some top-level whale watching expeditions, such as those led by conservationist Kim Beddall (who says she has led informative excursions since 1983).

If you cannot take a boat trip, they also indicate that it is possible to observe the whales from land at the Punta Balandra observatory, located about nine miles east of Santa Bárbara de Samaná, the capital city of the province.

For accommodation, they recommend “The Peninsula House”, three-time winner of the Readers’ Choice Award, which is located on 15 acres of green hillside on the Samaná Peninsula.

Punta Cana, located in the east of the Dominican Republic, is a destination with fine sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, which benefits from its pleasant location where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea meet.

It points out that due to its location just under 200 miles from Samaná Bay, they also recommend staying there between the months of March and April, to enjoy the benefits of the place and at the same time visit and see life in full bloom in other places not so far away, such as in the Los Haitises National Park, where they highlight that you can see populations of pelicans, Hispaniolan emeralds, herons and frigates, which regularly cross the airspace.
