The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, described the participation of the Dominican Republic in the Fitur 2025 tourism fair as a total success, where it closed with investments of 6.75 billion dollars, considerably exceeding last year’s figure of 3.5 billion dollars.
In his traditional breakfast with the press at Fitur to review the results of the country’s participation in this important world tourism fair, Minister Collado outlined what this investment will represent for the Dominican Republic and what was achieved.
Dominican financial sector
- Banco Popular Dominicano managed to close deals for 2.5 billion dollars
- Banco de Reservas reached 2 billion dollars.
- Banco BHD closed deals for 2 billion dollars
- Promerica achieved another 250 million dollars, in its first participation as a financial institution in this fair.
Minister Collado said that these 6.75 billion dollars will represent 7,400 new rooms, 713,000 tourists, 47,800 jobs and 477 million dollars in foreign currency.
The Minister of Tourism also reported that during the fair, agreements were signed with important airlines, which represent 500 thousand new seats for this year, only in the European market.
Among the airlines he mentioned were Iberia, Air Europa, Aeromexico and Air Transat, among others.
The official indicated that this year the main objective of the tourism cabinet will be air connectivity.
The best stand at Fitur 2025
The breakfast ended on a high note, as during the event the information was received that the Dominican Republic stand won the award for the best Stand at Fitur 2025. A recognition that the country had already achieved in 2023.
