Puntacana Resort announced the third edition of the Culinary Weekend to be held on March 21 and 22, with the participation of the outstanding Mexican chefs David Castro and Maribel Aldaco Silva.
The event will be held at the Bamboo restaurant of the Tortuga Bay hotel, where the famous chefs will show their skills in specialized dishes for the delight of the diners of the event.
David Castro Hussong is a Mexican chef with proven experience, who began his training at the age of 13, graduating from “The French Culinary” and working in renowned restaurants, such as Noma, and the Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Copenhagen; Eleven Madison Park in New York and Cala in San Francisco, California.
Together with his wife, chef Maribel Aldaco Silva, Castro Hussong opened five restaurants from 2018 to 2023: Fauna Restaurant (2018), Bruna Wine Garden (2020); In Mexico City, Tigre and Tigrillo and in 2023, their project, La Morocha, opened in Ensenada.
Both also, directing Fauna, won the One to Watch 2020, High New Entry 2022, and The Best Restaurant in Mexico 2023 awards, all of which were on the list of the 50 best restaurants.
They have participated in the Mexican culinary 2019, winning in 2020 as the best restaurant in the country, and on the Fauna Mex Best list, they won as the best hotel restaurant in 2018, and the best restaurant in the country in 2020.
Maribel Aldaco Silva is a Mexican pastry chef, who began her professional training working in restaurants such as Martin Berasategui, in the Basque Country, at the Blue Hill at Stone Barns, The Nomad in New York, and Quince, in San Francisco.
In 2024 Maribel won Best Pastry Chef of the Year, and in recent years she has managed to win Best Pastry Chef in 2023, and was among the 50 Best Latam and Pastry Chef of the Year for Mexican cuisine.
