Cap Cana will host the third edition of the Ironman 70.3

Cap Cana is preparing to host the third edition of Ironman 70.3 Cap Cana, to be held on May 17, 2026, solidifying its position as one of the most prominent triathlon events in the Caribbean and the region.

In just two editions, the race has become a favorite among athletes and continues to establish itself as a strategic event for strengthening sports tourism in the region, generating economic impact, international exposure, and an unforgettable experience for the athletes.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the third edition of Ironman 70.3 Cap Cana and continue to solidify this event as one of the most important in the Caribbean,” said Wilber Anderson, CEO of SBR Sports LLC, the event organizer.

Cap Cana offers exceptional conditions for triathlon: safety, infrastructure, hospitality, and unparalleled natural scenery. This race is more than just a competition; it’s an experience that showcases the Dominican Republic as an international sports tourism destination,” he added.

For his part, Jorge Subero Medina, CEO of Cap Cana, said that Cap Cana is one of the Ironman 70.3’s most attractive locations, bringing together more than a thousand competitors and their families, and serving as a benchmark event for both those new to triathlon and experienced competitors in swimming, cycling, and running.

It is an honor for us to host this event for the third time. It fills the entire Destination City with energy, excitement, and solidarity, and it is a great strategic ally that has placed its trust in our development as a fundamental platform for the growth of sports tourism in the Dominican Republic,” he concluded.

At the Ironman Athlete’s Choice Awards, the Cap Cana triathlon was recognized as one of the Top 5 Ironman 70.3 races in Latin America, an award given directly by the athletes who participate in the global circuit.

About the course

Athletes will begin their Ironman 70.3 Cap Cana challenge by swimming 1.9 km (1.2 miles) in the crystal-clear waters off Cap Cana’s private coastline and beach on the Atlantic Ocean.

Once out of the water, the athletes will head to the transition area—located 200 meters from the start of the swim course—and embark on a 90 km (56-mile) single-loop bike ride through the streets and beautiful gardens of Cap Cana, connecting with the main highway.

The 21.1 km (13.1-mile) run will take athletes through the beautiful resort community of Cap Cana on a flat course, leading them to the renowned Cap Cana Marina, surrounded by a magnificent coastal environment.

The finish line will be located on Juanillo Beach, near the Dreams Hotel, where athletes will cross through palm trees with the sea as a backdrop—the perfect setting to complete the Ironman 70.3 Cap Cana challenge.

As part of the official event experience, the Ironman 70.3 Cap Cana Expo will take place on May 15 and 16 at the Dreams Resort & Spa. This event trade show will allow athletes and visitors to pick up their race kits, interact with partner brands, and experience the pre-race atmosphere firsthand.

In addition, the event will award qualifying slots for the 2026 Ironman 70.3 World Championship, which will be held in Nice, France, on September 12 and 13, 2026.
