Beryl moves away from the DR, but a tropical wave will arrive

Hurricane Beryl, category 4, continues to move away from Dominican territory this Wednesday, but starting this Thursday an active tropical wave will approach that will generate heavy downpours over several provinces.

This Wednesday’s report from the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) indicates that Beryl is located at latitude 16.6 north and longitude 74.4 west, that is, about 300 kilometers east/southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, and has maximum sustained winds of 230 kilometers per hour.

For today, although the environment is quite cloudy in the western portion of the country, rains are expected to decrease considerably due to the distance of the hurricane.

According to Onamet, an air mass with lower humidity content is expected to enter the territory, but showers are expected in the morning in provinces such as: Pedernales, Barahona, Independencia, Bahoruco, Elías Piña, San Juan, Azua, among others.
