Air Century: Six New Routes from Punta Cana airport

The Dominican airline Air Century announced today the opening of six new air routes that will connect the Dominican Republic with Havana, San Martín, Aruba, Cartagena, Curacao and Puerto Rico from the Punta Cana International Airport.

The CEO of Air Century, Omar Chahín, explained that the new air routes will offer more than 200,000 seats to transport tourists from these destinations, in line with the company’s objective of expanding its operations.

This growth takes us to the busiest airport on the entire island and one of the most important in the region, where we will begin an expansion plan that seeks rapid and efficient regional connectivity for the inhabitants of the Caribbean,” said the executive.

He announced that these routes will begin operating from December 15. “By 2025, we will have more than 12 destinations served from the main tourist hub of the region,” he assured.

He explained that, in a second stage, Air Century will include direct routes to destinations such as Miami, New York and Cancun, for which they will incorporate two new CRJ 700 aircraft, which will arrive at the end of November, and two Airbus A320 that are expected for the summer of 2024.

For his part, the director of Airside Operations at the Punta Cana International Airport, Giovanni Rainieri, stated that these destinations are highly in demand by tourists and corporate clients.

With this new stage of flights, we increase the connectivity of our passengers from the Caribbean to North America, Europe and Punta Cana,” he said.

He explained that the tourist spends, on average, 165 dollars per night. “If we calculate that by the number of tourists who come for an average of four to five nights, it gives us a very interesting economic impact for Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic“.
