Dominican Republic present at Fitur 2024 with a 1,180 square meter stand

Digital screen technology continues to be the weapon on which the Ministry of Tourism is betting. At noon today, a stand with 1,180 square meters of space and 200 square meters of screens was inaugurated at the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2024, in Madrid, with the aim of promoting the Dominican Republic and dazzling visitors with images of the country’s tourist attractions.

This event is considered one of the most important in the tourism world. More than 54 Dominican companies are exhibiting in this 44th version of Fitur, a fair that the Dominican Republic has attended since 1981.

8,025,000 tourists entered our country, 2,227,000 cruise passengers, to give the large figure that since 2012 was a goal of our country: 10,306,000 visitors arrived in the Dominican Republic,” emphasized the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, when repeating the figures which are supported to promote the country in the international market present at the fair.

The event is attended by the main executives of the BanReservas, Popular and BHD banks, looking for investments.

You can feel the spirit, the appetite, the great interest to continue investing in the Dominican Republic,” said Christopher Paniagua, executive president of Banco Popular Dominicano.

Samuel Pereyra, administrator of the BanReservas Bank, recalled that the Dominican Republic went to Fitur during the times of the pandemic, in the midst of an uncertain future at the tourism level. Today, in this year 2024, we see how the Dominican Republic has advanced in its economy. It is a country with enviable social peace,” he said during the opening ceremony of the stand.

Julia Simpson, president and CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), highlighted the progress of the Dominican tourism sector. “People ask me what is the secret ingredient that the Dominican Republic has, well… first it is vision, strategy and passion,” she said.

The Ministry of Tourism’s expectation for this event is to sign an average of 30 agreements with airlines and tour operators throughout the European market, as well as announce new hotels and flights to Quisqueya.
