Katmandú Park closes its doors 12 months from opening

The Katmandu Theme Park, located in Punta Cana, closes its doors one year after the opening, on March 2023. The information was given through a press release published in the social media pages of the attraction park, where they did not specify the reason for the strike.

Katmandú Park Punta Cana closes immediately. The commercial establishments and restaurants will remain operational. As we consider the future use of the property, we extend our appreciation to all our customers who have enjoyed the park this last year,” reads the notice.

Katmandú Park Punta Cana opened its doors last March 2023 and resulted in a reversal that exceeded 60 million dollars, according to information at that time. As part of the tourism offer of the Meliá Hotels International hotel chain and its partner Falcon’s Beyond, the park was conceived as the “most modern of Latin America” and as a revolutionary thematic entertainment offer.

The first action took place in the presence of the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, who was accompanied by the executives of Meliá Hotels International, Gabriel Escarrer Jaume and his associates of Falcon’s Beyond, in the presence of Scott Demerau, as well as the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, government officials, personalities related to the sector, and special invitees.

PRICES

The Katmandú Park Punta Cana had different prices, considered by many too expensive and the main reason of the failure of this project:

– the Day Pass (US$120 for adults and US$85 for children): this holiday toasted visitors by accessing all the attractions and paths through the park once.

– Another option was the VIP Pass (US$225 for adults and US$140 for children), which allowed visitors to enjoy all of the park’s attractions on any given day until the end of the month.
