Blessed with one of the longest white-sand coastlines in the Caribbean, a total of 30 miles, accented with coconut palm trees that seem to reach up to the sky, Punta Cana is synonymous with rest and relaxation facing the sea. Here, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea, from the northern tip at Uvero Alto to the southern tip at Cap Cana, all-inclusive resorts and boutique hotels offer all the pampering and comfort of modern beachfront living.
Families will enjoy miniature entertainment centers as well as children´s water parks, while couples will find dreamy wedding venues, with receptions on the beach for an even more romantic experience. But you will not only find fun in the sun, with fine white sands and a crystalline water sea to swim, fish, or take a dip among marine life and coral reefs.
Punta Cana is also a golfer´s paradise, with 10 golf courses located along the coast, a beach escape with luxurious marinas and gourmet dining, and a wellness area with the best spas in the country, including the only Six Senses of the Caribbean.
Hoyo Claro is a cristal-clear cenote located in the area of Punta Cana (very close to the airport). Despite being a beautiful natural place, this cenote has not facilities around and it is not visited by a large number of tourists. Nowadays it still feels like a hidden treasure within the province of La Altagracia. This underground lagoon is located on a private property, and you can swim and snorkel inside. Extensive vegetation associated with tropical forests grows around the n lagoon and in order to reach this place you have to walk around half an hour unless you have a 4×4 jeep vehicle.
Located inside the exclusive Puntacana Resort & Club complex, the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park & Reserve (Ojos Indigenas in Spanish) consists of 1,500 acres of land open to the public for an entrance fee. The Reserve was named the Indigenous Eyes since the land was originally inhabited by the Taino Indians, the first inhabitants of the island. Within the reserve are 13 freshwater lagoons (named eyes or “ojos” in Spanish). Each of the lagoons have been named using Taino words. The reserve has more than 500 species of plants, 36% of which are endemic to the Dominican Republic.
Macao Beach, or Playa Macao, is a public beach located in the province La Altagracia and is often considered as the most beautiful of Punta Canas’ beaches. Macao Beach is particularly popular among locals (usually during the weekend) and among individual travelers, who are staying in private apartments, hostels or Airbnb rather than in a Punta Cana all-inclusive resort. Playa Macao is a surfer’s favorite. On site surfing classes of all levels are available year-round. Macao’s local restaurants are also known for serving some of the best Dominican-style fish- plates on this side of Punta Cana.
Coco Bongo disco offers the biggest night show you can find in Punta Cana. It is a combination of show, music, disco, party and nightclub and probably the best performance you have ever seen. Coco Bongo has a large number of live shows that makes this place unique, where acrobats and professional artists fully engage in the performances. It is combined with the best modern music and videos between performances. Coco Bongo gives its visitors the best experience full of fun. It features four entrance options to choose from: regular package, gold member, royal service, and front row.
World-famous Bávaro Beach (or Playa Bavaro as it is called in Spanish) ranks among the longest, most continuous white sand beaches in the Caribbean and it´s Punta Cana´s main beach. Extending 48 kilometers (30 miles) and surrounded with coral reefs, it’s also the most developed section of Punta Cana resort area. Beachfront resorts, beach clubs, restaurants, and gift shops line the beach. Most of this beach is walkable with different public access points, and thanks to its calm, turquoise waters, this beach is ideal for water and beach activities, including parasailing, riding speedboats or sailing on a catamaran.
