As already mentioned, Excellence Punta Cana is located in the northernmost part of the Punta Cana region called Uvero Alto. If you’re thinking of taking excursions during your stay, here are some helpful tips.
The Uvero Alto area isn’t popular with water excursions. In fact, due to rough sea and potentially dangerous currents, there are no boat excursions available nearby. Most boat excursions take place in the Bavaro area, about 30-35 minutes away from Uvero Alto.
If you decide to take a catamaran excursion, keep in mind that the round-trip transportation time will be at least 1-1.5 hours for a private excursion, and even longer for a shared excursion. On the other hand, many horseback riding excursions and off-road buggy excursions take place near the Excellence Hotel, so these excursions could be a good choice if you don’t want to spend too much time on transportation.
Regarding full-day excursions, due to the hotel’s geographic location, excursions in the southern part of the country, such as the excursions to Saona and Catalina Island and the Santo Domingo tour, will be longer (and therefore more tiring) than usual. For guests of the Excellence Hotel, as well as those of other resorts in Uvero Alto, these excursions will last around 1.5-2 hours longer than the standard tour duration, which is always calculated from the Bavaro area, considered the heart of Punta Cana.
