Six countries will compete in the White Marlin Tournament 2025

The 2025 Cap Cana White Marlin Tournament kicks off early Friday morning and will run until Saturday the 24th, when the winners’ awards ceremony will take place.

This year’s competition will feature a golf tournament called Best Ball on the Punta Espada course. Participants will be active from early Thursday and will receive prizes that evening during the fishing tournament’s opening ceremony.

More than 30 boats will set sail after catching and releasing white marlin, with the neighboring island of Puerto Rico having the largest number of representatives. Anglers from the United States, Brazil, Italy, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic will also compete.

Each white marlin will receive a score

Each white marlin released will receive 300 points, while blue marlin, sailfish, and spearfish will add 200 points to the boats.

There will be prizes for the top three places per boat, as well as for the best overall angler, the highest-scoring female angler, and the most outstanding junior angler for those under 17. The best overall boat will also be awarded.

The rules of the IGFA (International Game Fishing Association) will be valid and enforceable in the tournament, except where they conflict with specific tournament regulations.

The validation committee will be composed of Puerto Ricans Luis Infanzón and Rafael Caicedo, as well as Pete Manuel from the United States. The judges’ decision on the reports will be final after considering all parties and opinions.

Release Time

Each vessel must be equipped with at least one video camera to show the judges the images captured during the release. Participants have one hour to release eligible species.
